The tailwind was designed for speed! i just think it is one of the best looking high wing monoplanes you can build, but would prefer to fly something a little slower and in the lsa. I have 3 sheets of 1/16 plywood and 6 sheets of 3/32 4 ft x 8 ft. I bought the plans, clement mods, and stanton assembly manual after i sold my tailwind project thinking that i would start another one. A buick 300ci crank will fit with only minor mod. It was announced on the tailwind forum that prolific tailwind builder jim clement died from a stroke. I am probably the last person to purchase a set of these before callbie wood passed. Olds V8 Powered, Inverted And Direct Drive.

I have 3 sheets of 1/16 plywood and 6 sheets of 3/32 4 ft x 8 ft. It will easily fly at 170 at 3100 i have almost 300. I did a normal rebuild with all new technology stuff. The engine is an aluminum olds 215 v8.

For some reason i have been drawn to the w10 tailwind, but i have a question. It was announced on the tailwind forum that prolific tailwind builder jim clement died from a stroke. I think the differences are spar spacing for the tailwind is 25”, 24” for cougar, gear, wittman’s patent was in full swing, trim on a cougar is cub style, sloppy ones known to flutter.
